Summer means different things to different people. For us, it’s all about taking some time to breathe, unplug and re-energize, either on a beach somewhere or at home. In this post, we share some ideas for turning your home into the summer house of your dreams.
Start with A Summer Holiday Staple: The Hammock
Nothing says summer like a hammock, so hang one in a shady spot in your backyard, place a small table next to it for your morning coffee or a cool drink and snacks, and get ready to catch up on your reading.
Create an Outdoor Living Room
Move your living room to your backyard by creating a comfortable and stylish lounging outdoor area with lots of throw pillows. Then, add a nice colorful rug, a few cozy stools and a rocking chair to complete the look and create an inviting outdoor space.
The Sounds of a Babbling Brook
Install a small fountain or water feature so that you can close your eyes and feel like you are in an oasis, listening to the sounds of a babbling brook. If you are the DIY type, you can easily build your own fountain – all you really need is a pump, a container (almost any container will do) and a water source.
Give Your Bedroom a Luxury Resort Feel
Painting your walls in tranquil colors, installing a ceiling fan and adding a bedside lamp and a couple of cozy chairs to your bedroom will make you feel like you’re going to sleep and waking up in a tropical resort.
Build a Fire Pit
Sit around the fire on hot summer nights, take out that old guitar, roast marshmallows on the open fire and wind down to those familiar crackling sounds of campfire.
